‘P’ for Poltu

Poltu
This time I dedicate this blog to all my seniors who have already spent their innumerable hours in giving us fundae and are still continuing to do so…very sincerely.
The letter ‘P‘ has always been a fascinating thing for me. Starting with PORN, it has affected almost every sphere of my life. Even my last few days were completely jubilant because of this ‘P‘ only. (I hope some of you will be getting this
) But this time, the letter has widened its domain and is now infiltrating my serene life in a completely new and interesting word – POLTU.
What’s Poltu?
In IIT Lingo… it’s a short form for Politics. It’s a new and fascinating arrival in the IIT-Life of all the facchas. Some are delighted by it, enjoying it’s vivaciousness, while others are feeling disgusted.
Why Poltu exists?
Ideally, poltu should exist for the welfare of the masses, it should exist for a vision, it should exist to achieve it. Alas…!!! In IIT it exists to make ‘Reps’, ‘Secys’, Cultoos and Maintoos. It exists to gain power as well as resources. It exists for greed, selfishness and voracity. Sometime it exists for ethics, but most of the time this isn’t the case.
Advantages of Poltu:
# It provides a better and a new excuse to avoid studies and waste your time.
# A senior of mine once quoted: ‘Discussing Poltu is better than sex.‘ Thus, it gives a few days of sheer pleasure to ‘despo sex-deprived’ IITians.
# It’s one of the only two possible ways for a junior-senior interaction in the first year. (The first one is ragging.)
# Perhaps it is the only time when you can literally speak ‘gaalis’ to your seniors and still get an appreciation.
# There are 8 different ways to decrease your CGPA. Apart from Poltu, the other 7 are unimportant.
# Poltu enhances self-exploration. (You get to know how mean, selfish and obnoxious person you are.)
# It teaches you how to mould facts and misanalyze situations.
# It makes you optimistic. (Even if you are in deep shit, you would always look hopeful and anticipative.)
# It reforms one’s social skills. (It teaches you how to fight with friends and alienate people.)
# One never gets to eat as many free pizzas, muffins and coffees ever as he gets during Poltu time.
Disadvantages of Poltu:
# So far any disadvantage of Poltu hasn’t been found.

Final Word
Politics is everywhere, it affects everything and sometimes… it is everything. Learning politics is an essential skill of life.
“Issued in Public Interest.” (By a fachha who’s politically screwed and too confused to choose a party.)

Posted 8 months, 1 week ago5 disadvantages of choosing a side early :
a wise crack given to me by my seniors was that its better to choose a side early and i took the plunge very early…guys, i m never “politically” correct and never will b
but…issuing the following article in public interest:
1. u miss out on the free cokes muffins and other bribes which u may just end up enjoyin
2 u miss out in making ur case strong for being a rep(all those guys who r yet to zero in their domain..BSW is anybody ’s luck!!! go for it!!!)
3. ur side seniors take u for granted..
4 the opposite side thinks u r a “driving force”..tujhe chaaatenge.
5.1 year on.. u realise u dont hav much economic and political potential. lol…..
for more fundae drop in at B-6..just ensure u bring a muffin or 2 for me…bcos there is no free lunch in the world….lol
Posted 8 months agowooo impressive post…
Posted 8 months agoYou have presented it in a short but in sound words..
Each of the facts u analyse r absolutely true…
but the matter of fact is that how much useful this politics in student life?I mean is it good to be included or not?
And yes ur words i.e. “Learning politics is an essential skill of life.” are true..But basically most of us lack behind this skill..n need to learn it in order to use in a positive way..
@Pinak
Yeah…
I am the one who committed early…and as u said…m missing muffins more than anybody..
lol…
thnx for addin up..
@Vishakha..
Posted 7 months, 4 weeks agoHahaha..it was just an outcome of frustration polished with some socially accepted language…!!

Posted 4 months, 2 weeks agoI think now that you will look ‘P for Poltu ‘ from a different viewpoint and you are no longer a tortured , tormented and frustrated fachcha, you ought to write on this topic again… and see the difference (if any, hopefully
